Over four thousand people turned out to watch a giant human mobile take to the air on the shores of Lake Windermere on Saturday 14 June 2008.
The breathtaking performance by French street artists Transe Express was the centre piece of the WOW Factor, a free event on the Glebe, Bowness-on-Windermere.
Performers dressed as sailors marched through the crowds playing on drums, before being lifted 40 metres into the air by a large crane. The human mobile was then moved out over the audience, with the sailors drumming a beat while a trapeze artist swung skilfully above them.
The explosive finale was provided by one of Europe's leading pyrotechnic companies, Walk the Plank. A spectacular firework display lit up the skies above the lake, as the show by Transe Express came to a close.
Earlier in the evening Cumbrian street artist A.J. James helped get the audience in the mood with a mix of comedy and acrobatics. There was also music from Newcastle based Soznak.
